Javier Navarro

Originally a Telecommunications Systems engineer, specialising on Hardware and Software programming, Javier changed careers in 2005 and is currently a spatial systems modeller at the CSIRO, specialising on agricultural production, practices and environmental externalities at national level and high resolution. He has led the development of production, economic and environmental national-scale maps of Australian agriculture which have underpinned landmark studies like the Australian National Outlook and Yield Gap Australia. Javier has been interested in issues around pesticide impacts and water quality for a long time and has recently published a novel analysis of pesticide toxicity hazard of Australian agriculture.
